Too Long; Didn't Read
Charles Bachman introduced the first database management system in 1962. The Integrated Data Store (IDS) was created for disk storage and high-level programming. In 1969, the Committee of Data Systems Languages (CODASYL) released a report proposing a standard for database management. The report drew heavily from IDS and the network data model. The new network model allows records to have multiple parents, which created a graph structure. This led to the introduction of relational databases in the early 1960s.
