The implementation of quantum dot technology in displays is a prime example of an on-going disruption making its way to the mainstream market. The technology has advanced a lot in features and has overcome critical reliability and quality control hurdles. Samsung recently announced their intention to expand QDs into OLED displays, in addition to their premium QLED offering. The quantum dot display industry faces a shortage of high-quality materials that could deliver a quantum leap in screen color, brightness, and efficiency. New innovations are needed to make quantum technology accessible to the mass market over the next few years.
