Google has recently launched its new Geospatial Creator, a tool that allows anyone to visualize, design, and publish world-anchored immersive and augmented reality (AR) content in minutes, straight from Unity and Adobe Aero.

This new program is powered by ARCore and Photorealistic 3D Tiles from the Google Maps Platform.

Bringing Your Imagination to Life

Geospatial Creator enables developers and creators to easily visualize where in the real-world they want to place their digital content, similar to how Google Earth or Google Street View visualize the world.

The program also includes new capabilities, such as Rooftop anchors, to make it even easier to anchor virtual content with the 3D Tiles, saving developers and creators time and effort in the creation process.

Real-World Augmentation at Your Fingertips

With Geospatial Creator, developers and creators can now build on top of Photorealistic 3D Tiles from Google Maps Platform which provide real-time localization and real-time augmentation.

Everything created in Geospatial Creator can be experienced in the physical world through real-time localization and real-world augmentation.

A Tale of Two Platforms: ARCore vs. ARKit

In comparison, Apple's ARKit is another popular platform for developing AR apps. Both ARKit and ARCore have similar functionalities, but they are ultimately designed for different purposes.

Both software development kits rely on three main tenets to ensure their success: Environmental Understanding, Motion Tracking, and Light Estimation.

Bringing Your Imagination to Life

One of the main differences between ARCore vs. ARKit is their purpose. ARKit seeks to create an AR ecosystem that is prevalent across industries in order to provide companies with technological tools to bolster their bottom lines.

Essentially, Apple wants to create a series of interconnected devices that operate on AR for consumer and professional purposes.

In comparison, Google’s ARCore seeks to generalize AR across all platforms, making the technology available to as many people as possible. With wider access availability, Google is seeking to add AR solutions to more businesses with the hopes of expanding its brands.

Paving the Way for Augmented Reality's Future

Google's Geospatial Creator is a significant stride forward for the AR industry. It offers a user-friendly means to create, visualize, and deploy augmented reality experiences worldwide.

As creators explore this powerful tool, we eagerly anticipate the groundbreaking immersive experiences that will emerge.
